ProStars are 7cm high plastic collectable football figurines. The initial product name was "Headliners" and launched in 1995. The idea that was thought of first over a pint in the pub had finally come of age. The launch took place at the Compleat Angler in Marlow, Buckinghamshire with David Seaman signing England 12 Player Packs. Very few of these exist today!
As momentum picked up, other Premiership teams were released. It was our intention to release the full Premiership and to have as many teams represented with our figurines. However, it became clearer as time went on that Retailers could not cope with such a diverse range of teams and they were struggling to sell teams that were not local to their particular store. This resulted in some teams only having a few players released as figurines.
In 1999 the ProStars brand was launched, with Series 1 being universally acknowledged as a great collection to start the ProStars series. The range benefited from being made up of genuinely top class international players from most of the biggest teams in the world football. The blister pack series took a little time to move off the shelves as relatively few collectors knew about the range until the advertising started. Once collectors realized they were out there demand went up noticeably. As the first of the ProStars series this is one for the connoisseur and emand had remained stable even though most of the models were repaints of players previously released.
Since 1999 the ProStars range has gone on to produce more than 30 regular series, with many more planned. In addition to the regular series, special releases including England 1966 Winners 12 Player Packs (signed by Sir Geoff Hurst) and Limited Edition ProStars Elite double packs of some of the worlds greatest ever players.
In 2004 a new Retail range set of products were released, and all models come with Quiz Game cards that can be played with ProStars The Game. |
